Synopsis

That search eventually leads him to Barney Cousins — a soft-spoken, methodical sociopath played by Jeff Bridges — who views abduction as a kind of controlled personal experiment and calmly waits for his obsessive pursuer to show up. Sandra Bullock appears as the vanished Diane. The film runs 109 minutes and never gives you what most thrillers promise: the tension lives entirely in the unknown.
Sluizer remade his own acclaimed 1988 Dutch film for American audiences. What separates this one from standard genre fare is the choice to reveal the killer early and follow him as closely as his victim's boyfriend — a structural move that trades jump-scares for something slower and harder to shake.
