Synopsis
The Amityville Horror (1979) is Stuart Rosenberg's landmark haunted-house chiller, and you can watch online on iFILM. George and Kathy Lutz move their family of five into a grand Long Island colonial priced far below what it should be.
They learn the reason too late. A year earlier, in those same rooms, the previous owners' son shot his whole family in their sleep. Within days the house starts pushing the Lutzes out: swarms of flies in midwinter, walls weeping black ooze, a priest driven off mid-blessing by a voice that tells him to leave. James Brolin plays a father whose eyes slowly go cold, Margot Kidder the wife who senses it first, and Rod Steiger the tormented Father Delaney.
Adapted from Jay Anson's bestseller about the Lutzes, who swore they fled after just 28 days, the film never settles whether any of it was real — and that argument still runs today. It became one of 1979's biggest box-office surprises and spawned a horror franchise that refuses to die. This is slow, suffocating dread rather than jump scares, built for fans of old-school terror.
