Against the Ice

Against the Ice (2022) is a survival drama drawn from a true expedition that you can watch online on iFILM. Two Danes push deep into frozen Greenland and end up cut off from the world far longer than either planned for.

Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is hunting for the journals of an earlier expedition, hoping to prove that a disputed stretch of the north is one connected island rather than separate land the Americans want to claim. The ship waits at the ice edge while Mikkelsen sets out across the pack with a single companion, mechanic Iver Iversen (Joe Cole), who has neither the training nor the cold-weather grit for it. Months of hunger, dying sled dogs and creeping hallucinations test the two men harder than the frost itself.

Coster-Waldau co-wrote the script from the real Mikkelsen's diaries, and his Game of Thrones co-star Charles Dance appears as the man who sent them out.
