War Horse

War Horse (2011) is Steven Spielberg's First World War drama you can watch online on iFILM. A Devon farm boy named Albert raises a foal called Joey, until his father sells the horse to the British cavalry and the animal is shipped off to the front in France.

From there Joey passes through many hands. A young officer rides him into a doomed charge, two German brothers try to save him, a French girl and her grandfather hide him on their farm, and gun crews drag him through the mud. Albert, barely old enough to enlist, follows the war across the Channel to find him. The cast includes Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Marsan.

Adapted from Michael Morpurgo's children's novel and the National Theatre stage hit with its life-size horse puppets, the film was shot by Janusz Kaminski and scored by John Williams.
