Synopsis
A Private War (2018) is a war drama you can watch online on iFILM, with Rosamund Pike as the legendary reporter Marie Colvin. The film traces the last decade of a woman who kept walking toward the gunfire long after most would have stopped.
Colvin lost her left eye to a grenade blast in Sri Lanka and wore a black patch for the rest of her life. Between assignments she drank, chain-smoked and wrestled with nightmares she couldn't outrun; on the page she gave a voice to civilians no one else bothered to count. Alongside photographer Paul Conroy, played by Jamie Dornan, she pushes into the besieged Syrian city of Homs to document a massacre as it happens. That story would cost her everything.
Director Matthew Heineman came up through documentary work, and it shows: the film keeps the polish low and the reporting close, more dispatch than melodrama. Pike vanishes into the role, raspy voice and all, and the performance landed her a Golden Globe nomination. This one is for anyone who cares what the truth actually costs.
