Synopsis
Casualties of War (1989) is Brian De Palma's Vietnam drama you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on something that actually happened to a U.S. patrol in the jungle in 1966, first reported by journalist Daniel Lang. Michael J. Fox plays Private Eriksson; Sean Penn is his sergeant, Meserve.
On a recon mission deep in hostile country, the squad abducts a young woman from a village. What Meserve frames as a perk for tired soldiers turns into assault and murder. Eriksson is the only man who refuses to take part. From there he stands alone against the men he fights beside, weighing whether to keep quiet or risk his own life to speak up. Watch for early turns from John C. Reilly, John Leguizamo and Ving Rhames.
