Synopsis
The Fly II (1989) is a science-fiction horror sequel to Cronenberg's The Fly, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Martin Brundle is born carrying the same scrambled genetic code that doomed his scientist father, Seth.
He grows up inside Bartok Industries, a company that plays guardian while really keeping the boy as a specimen, waiting for his dormant insect chromosomes to wake. Martin (Eric Stoltz) is a prodigy who looks like a grown man at age five and soon realizes he isn't being treated, he's being studied. The change is already building under his skin, and nothing will hold it back. Daphne Zuniga plays the lab worker he falls for and runs with.
Director Chris Walas earned an Oscar for the creature makeup on the first film, so this one leans hard into stomach-turning practical effects rather than the original's tragic ideas.
