National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1

National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 (1993), directed by Gene Quintano, is a spoof comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It takes dead aim at Lethal Weapon and the whole pile of 1980s buddy-cop action movies, with roughly every other scene built around a gag on the genre.

Loose-cannon cop Jack Colt, played by Emilio Estevez, comes unglued after his old partner is murdered, then gets saddled with the unflappable family man Wes Luger, played by Samuel L. Jackson. Together they chase a villain plotting to hook the entire country on cocaine-laced cookies. Cue car chases, shootouts and a barrage of visual jokes. Tim Curry shows up, William Shatner hams it up as the bad guy, and John Lovitz and a string of cameos fill out the frame.

Quintano throws jokes at the wall the way Airplane! and The Naked Gun did, more-is-more: not every one lands, but the sheer density of nonsense carries it. The whole thing runs a tidy eighty-odd minutes and aims for nothing beyond laughs. A fun watch for fans of old-school parody and early comic turns from Estevez and Jackson.
