Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest (1999) is a sci-fi comedy with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and Alan Rickman that you can watch online on iFILM. It was cancelled twenty years ago, and now the washed-up stars drag themselves around fan conventions, signing autographs for people in rubber ears and quietly resenting one another.

Then real aliens show up. A species called the Thermians picked up the old broadcasts, mistook them for "historical documents," and built a working ship from the show's designs. With no script and no second takes, the has-been actors have to save an entire civilization from a space tyrant. Tim Allen plays the swaggering "captain," Sigourney Weaver an actress sick of her decorative role, Alan Rickman a classically trained Brit stuck in goofy latex, and a young Sam Rockwell a bit player certain he'll die first.
