Synopsis
"Paskal" (PASKAL: The Movie, 2018) is a Malaysian military action film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Adrian Teh. It is drawn from the real 2011 PASKAL special-forces operation to retake a tanker seized by Somali pirates.
Lieutenant Commander Arman Anwar leads his PASKAL unit — the Royal Malaysian Navy's maritime commando force — to rescue the MV Bunga Laurel from open water. The mission is tightly staged, but the film's second thread is the cost of that kind of service: Arman's family back home, and what it means to keep choosing duty. The tagline says it plainly: "Between Family and Country."
Hairul Azreen carries the lead with both physical precision and a quieter register in the personal scenes. When it released, "Paskal" broke Malaysian box-office records for a local production — it travelled poorly internationally despite deserving wider reach. Stream it online on iFILM.
