A Royal Navy spy ship goes down off the Greek coast, taking the ATAC missile-control system with it. Whoever salvages the device controls Britain's submarine fleet, so Bond races the Soviets to the wreck. Along the way he crosses paths with Melina Havelock (Carole Bouquet), a young woman hunting the men who gunned down her parents, crossbow in hand. The chase runs from a bobsled run in Cortina to a deep-sea dive and a bare-handed climb up a sheer cliff to a clifftop monastery.
