Synopsis
Holy Cow (Vingt Dieux, 2024) is a French coming-of-age comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Louise Courvoisier. Set in the Jura countryside, it follows Totone — eighteen, aimless, happiest fighting with kids from the next village over — until his father dies at the wheel after a village celebration. Drunk driving. Just like that, the easy years end.
Now Totone has a younger sister to feed and no income. Somewhere he lands on the idea of entering a local Comté cheese competition with a €30,000 prize. He has no cheesemaking background at all. But the competition brings Marie-Lise into the picture, played by Maïwène Barthélémy, and suddenly Totone has reasons he didn't plan on. Clément Faveau carries the film on his shoulders.
Courvoisier shot on location in actual Jura villages with a mix of actors and locals, which gives the film a texture closer to documentary than festival drama. Coming-of-age done without any ceremony — the maturity just arrives, unannounced. Stream Holy Cow (2024) online on iFILM.
