Synopsis
Dead Poets Society (1989) is Peter Weir's celebrated drama you can watch online on iFILM. Robin Williams plays John Keating, an English teacher at an elite New England prep school who tears up the lesson plan and tells his students to seize the day — carpe diem — before routine swallows them whole. Tom Schulman's original screenplay won the Academy Award.
Welton Academy runs on tradition, discipline, and parental ambition. Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard) secretly wants to act; Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke) is afraid to finish a sentence out loud. Keating brings them together into a clandestine reading circle — the Dead Poets Society — meeting after dark to recite Whitman and Thoreau in a cave. The school board does not approve. Neither do their fathers.
Produced by Touchstone Pictures and running 129 minutes, the film earned $235 million worldwide on a $16.4 million budget. Stream Dead Poets Society (1989) in full online on iFILM.
