Synopsis
Little Miss Sunshine (2006) is a comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Seven people, one dying yellow van, and a 700-mile drive to a kids' beauty pageant.
Seven-year-old Olive lands a finalist spot at the Little Miss Sunshine contest in California. There's no money for flights, so the whole Hoover clan crams into a beat-up VW bus and hits the road. Dad Richard (Greg Kinnear) keeps pitching a self-help formula nobody buys. Uncle Frank (Steve Carell) is fresh out of the hospital after a suicide attempt. Teenage Dwayne (Paul Dano) has sworn a vow of silence and answers in notes. Grandpa (Alan Arkin) swears like a sailor and coaches Olive on a dance routine that horrifies the judges. Holding it all together is mom Sheryl (Toni Collette).
The first feature from directors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton cost eight million dollars, made over a hundred, and won two Oscars: Alan Arkin for Supporting Actor and Michael Arndt for the screenplay.
