Synopsis
"Plebs: Soldiers of Rome" (2022) is the feature-length finale you can watch online on iFILM, wrapping up the ITV2 comedy series that ran from 2013 to 2019. Marcus, Stylax and Grumio — three thoroughly hapless Romans — sign up for peacetime military service, lured by the prospect of social credibility, female attention and discounts at selected eateries.
War is declared almost immediately. The legion ships them to the front line of a conflict none of them understand or have any interest in, and survival starts to feel like a stretch. Director Sam Leifer reunites Ryan Sampson, Tom Rosenthal and John Pointing, with Tom Basden and Karl Theobald back in support.
The series always worked by transplanting modern office-comedy losers into tunics and sandals without winking too hard at the joke. This film keeps that contract and raises the stakes.
