Synopsis
King Arthur (2004) is Antoine Fuqua's historical war epic, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Forget Camelot and enchanted swords. This version drops the audience into Britain around 467 AD, as Rome abandons the island and Saxon armies push south.
Here Arthur is the Roman commander Lucius Artorius Castus (Clive Owen), and his knights are Sarmatian cavalrymen who served the empire for fifteen years on the promise of freedom. That freedom never comes. Instead they get one last mission north of Hadrian's Wall. Along the way they cross paths with Guinevere (Keira Knightley), a Pict fighter, while Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd), the silent Tristan and the grizzled Bors (Ray Winstone) ride at Arthur's side toward a frozen-lake ambush and a final stand against a Saxon warlord played by Stellan Skarsgard.
Written by David Franzoni, the film grounds the round-table myth in the "Sarmatian hypothesis," the idea that a real Roman officer lies behind the legend. The cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen and Til Schweiger, and the battle scenes lean on practical scale rather than fantasy gloss. Stream King Arthur (2004) online on iFILM.
