About

Synopsis

The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (Les 12 travaux d'Astérix, 1976) is a French animated adventure-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, the film is a standalone story — not a direct adaptation of any single comic album — built around one question: what if Rome challenged the Gauls to do what only gods can do?

Julius Caesar is tired of that one defiant village holding out against his legions. His proposal: twelve impossible tasks. Complete them all and Rome surrenders. Asterix and Obelix accept without a second thought. The challenges range from an Olympic sprint to a descent into the underworld, but nothing stops them quite like the permit office — a labyrinthine bureaucratic nightmare that may be the funniest sequence in the whole film. Roger Carel voices Asterix, as he did throughout the classic French animated series.

Released at the height of the franchise's popularity, the film remains a fan favourite and one of the strongest feature-length entries in the Goscinny–Uderzo universe. Sharp wit, sly nods to ancient epic poetry, and not a slow moment. Stream The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (1976) online on iFILM.
