Synopsis

The Eagle (2011) is a historical adventure you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kevin Macdonald and starring Channing Tatum as young Roman centurion Marcus Aquila. He's arrived in Britain with a score to settle — his father commanded the Ninth Legion, which walked into the Scottish highlands twenty years ago and never came back.

The lost legion's golden eagle, its standard and symbol of Roman honour, vanished with them. Marcus crosses Hadrian's Wall on foot with only one companion: Esca, a British slave played by Jamie Bell, who knows the land but whose loyalties are unclear. The Caledonian tribes waiting beyond the Wall have no reason to welcome Romans.

Adapted from Rosemary Sutcliff's 1954 novel, the film is shot cold and unromantic — mud, fog, pain, and a friendship built in the worst possible conditions. Tatum and Bell make the central tension work despite a plot that offers few surprises. Stream The Eagle (2011) online on iFILM.
