Tomorrow's a New Day

Tomorrow's a New Day (Domani è un altro giorno, 2019) is an Italian tragicomedy by Simone Spada that you can watch online in good quality. It gives two lifelong friends just four days in Rome to settle everything left unsaid.

Stage actor Giuliano is gravely ill and has chosen to refuse treatment. Rather than fight it, he sets out to tidy up his life: hand off his belongings, patch up old quarrels, and above all find a loving home for his dog, Pato. His childhood friend Tommaso flies in from Madrid after years of silence. Together they wander the city, dropping into bookshops, a vet's office and small trattorias, arguing, reminiscing and turning over what little future remains.

It's the Italian take on the Argentine hit Truman, and everything rides on the pairing of Valerio Mastandrea and Marco Giallini: no melodrama, plenty of dry humor, hard talk about death and friendship kept at a murmur.
