Synopsis
Once Upon a Crime (2023) is a Japanese fairy-tale comedy and whodunit you can watch online on iFILM. Wandering through an enchanted forest, Little Red Riding Hood — played by Kanna Hashimoto — runs into a tearful Cinderella who is desperate to reach the royal ball.
A pair of handy fairies conjure up a gown, glass slippers and a pumpkin carriage, but on the road to the palace the girls run down the king's hairdresser. Sharp-eyed Red instantly spots the trick: the body was planted to bury an earlier murder. At the ball the prince sweeps Cinderella onto the dance floor, the night shatters with news of the death, and the king orders his guests searched for a killer. Director Yuichi Fukuda blends several Brothers Grimm tales with a cozy locked-castle mystery and his trademark deadpan absurdity.
