Synopsis
Sleeping Beauty (1959) is a Walt Disney Animation classic you can watch online on iFILM. Director Clyde Geronimi led a production that took close to a decade to complete — artists drew every frame in a style inspired by medieval tapestries and illuminated manuscripts. Mary Costa voiced Princess Aurora, and Eleanor Audley gave Maleficent one of animation's most memorable villain performances.
On the day of her birth, Princess Aurora is cursed by the uninvited fairy Maleficent: before her sixteenth birthday she will touch a spinning wheel spindle and fall into a death-like sleep. The three good fairies — Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather — cannot lift the spell outright, so they soften it: death becomes slumber, and a prince's kiss can break the enchantment. Aurora grows up hidden in the forest, unaware of what waits for her.
