Synopsis
Nomad: The Warrior (2005) is a Kazakhstan-set historical action epic you can watch online on iFILM, co-directed by Ivan Passer and Sergei Bodrov. The Kazakh steppe of the 1700s: Dzungar armies are pushing the nomadic tribes off their land, burning settlements, taking ground. Three jüz must either unite or disappear.
Kuno Becker plays the young warrior Mansur, who will grow into Ablai Khan — a commander shaped entirely by the chaos he was born into. Jay Hernandez, Jason Scott Lee, and Mark Dacascos fill out the international cast, anchored by Kazakhstani actors playing the real historical figures: Khan Abulkhair, the sage Tolé Bi, and Dzungar ruler Galdan Tseren. Shot across the open steppe, this was one of the most ambitious productions Kazakhstan had staged by that point, and the cavalry sequences show it. Stream Nomad online on iFILM.
