Amy works nights in an ICU. Her heart is failing, she has two daughters, and she cannot afford the surgery she needs before her insurance kicks in. The script comes from Charles Graeber's account of Charles Cullen, a nurse hospitals kept passing along for years while his victim count climbed into the dozens, by some estimates the hundreds. Lindholm skips the gore and the chases entirely; the horror sits in the bureaucratic quiet that let it happen. Redmayne plays the man as tired and gentle, which makes him scarier than any villain.
