Synopsis

Two years on, the hole hasn't closed. Stephen (Cumberbatch) drifts between searches that lead nowhere and the plain effort of getting through a day. His marriage to Julie (Kelly Macdonald) has come apart at the seams; grief pushed them into separate corners, each carrying it alone. Around them, friends nurse their own fractures, and time itself runs anything but straight.
Adapted from Ian McEwan's novel, it's a quiet, careful film about loss, parenthood and the pull of memory. Director Julian Farino lets Cumberbatch play much of it wordlessly, in half-tones.
