Synopsis
Brokeback Mountain — watch online the 2005 drama directed by Ang Lee and produced by Focus Features. Heath Ledger plays Ennis Del Mar, a tight-lipped ranch hand; Jake Gyllenhaal is Jack Twist, the rodeo cowboy who talks where Ennis goes quiet. One summer on a Wyoming mountain in 1963 changes both of their lives — though neither is willing to say so out loud.
The two men spend the next twenty years trying to live around what happened. Ennis marries Alma (Michelle Williams), who eventually figures out what his fishing trips really are. Jack takes up with Lureen (Anne Hathaway), daughter of a Texas machinery dealer. The meetings on the mountain keep happening, years apart, and each one costs more than the last.
The screenplay by Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana adapts Annie Proulx's 1997 short story. The film earned three Academy Awards — direction, adapted screenplay, and Gustavo Santaolalla's score — along with four Golden Globes.
