Valentin has no clue how to raise a daughter, so he heads to Los Angeles to track the mother down. He never finds her, but he keeps the girl and brings Maggie up alone. Years later they're inseparable: the ex-ladies' man earns a living as a movie stunt double while his seven-year-old runs his whole world. Then the mother resurfaces. Derbez directs and stars as Valentin, with Loreto Peralta as little Maggie, and their chemistry holds the film together.

It became the highest-grossing Mexican movie of its era and a surprise crossover hit in U.S. theaters for Spanish-language film.
