Synopsis
Queen Sugar (2016–2022) is an American family drama you can watch online on iFILM. When their father dies, three Bordelon siblings inherit an 800-acre sugarcane farm in rural Louisiana.
Nova is a New Orleans journalist and activist (Rutina Wesley). Charley walks away from a polished life in Los Angeles and heads south with her teenage son (Dawn-Lyen Gardner). Their brother Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) is trying to rebuild after a stint in prison. Together they learn to run the farm, hold the family together and face down debt, racism and long-buried grudges. It's a slow, patient story about land, roots and the real cost of an inheritance.
The series was created by Ava DuVernay and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, adapted from Natalie Baszile's novel. One striking fact: every one of its seven seasons was directed entirely by women — a rarity on a show this size. It rewards viewers who like thoughtful family sagas that take their time.
