Synopsis
Cat's Eye (1985) is a Stephen King horror anthology you can watch online on iFILM, with a screenplay King wrote himself. A stray tabby wanders through three separate stories, turning up each time beside someone whose situation is about to get very bad.
First there's Dick, trying to kick cigarettes through a clinic whose enforcement methods escalate from cruel to deadly the moment he slips. Then Johnny (Robert Hayes) is marched onto the ledge of a high-rise by his lover's jealous husband and ordered to inch all the way around. Last comes little Amanda, played by a young Drew Barrymore, stalked at night by a tiny troll while the family blames the cat. James Woods, Alan King and Kenneth McMillan keep each chapter sharp and a little mean.
Lewis Teague directed, fresh off King's Cujo, with a score by Alan Silvestri. The middle ledge story is the standout, pure vertigo suspense with no creature in sight. This one is for viewers who like King in his sly, carnival-barker mood rather than his bleakest. Stream Cat's Eye (1985) online on iFILM.
