The Jewel of the Nile

This is the sequel to Romancing the Stone. Now that the Colombian danger is behind them, Jack and Joan drift around the Mediterranean on a yacht, rich, comfortable and quietly bored with each other. Looking for a spark, novelist Joan accepts an invitation from a charming Middle Eastern ruler to write his biography. The fairy tale curdles quickly: the smiling dignitary is a tyrant in waiting, and the mysterious "Jewel" he keeps mentioning turns out to be nothing like a gem. Jack and a fast-talking hustler named Ralph race across the desert to pull Joan out before she's buried in someone else's coup.
