Trailing him is Patrick Wheeler (Ben Foster), the officer he once wounded, a man who isn't so sure he wants revenge.

Lowery tells it in glances and golden light, with dust on every frame and a guitar score that never hurries. This is a quiet ballad about people who can't let the past go, not a shoot-em-up chase. Keith Carradine anchors the small-town side, and a very young Rami Malek turns up too. Ninety minutes of mood for fans of Terrence Malick and patient filmmaking.
