A Ghost Story

A Ghost Story (2017) is David Lowery's quiet, time-bending drama you can watch online on iFILM. A musician dies in a car crash outside his own house. He sits up in the morgue under a white sheet with two eyeholes cut out, and walks home.

After that, almost nothing happens — and that is the point. The ghost (Casey Affleck) stands in the corner and watches his widow (Rooney Mara) grieve, pack up and finally leave, while he stays bound to the walls. Time slips loose around him. The house is torn down, an office tower rises in its place, then open prairie, then settlers in covered wagons, and the sheeted figure keeps waiting. Lowery shot the film in secret on almost no budget right after directing the studio-sized Pete's Dragon.
