Highlander III: The Sorcerer

A team of archaeologists unseals the ancient tomb by accident and frees Kane (Mario Van Peebles), a master of illusion who wants the world and the power to rule it. To claim it, he needs to take the Highlander's head. MacLeod heads home to the Scottish hills, fires up an old forge and hammers out a fresh blade. There he meets Alex (Deborah Kara Unger), a museum researcher who seems to carry the face of a woman he loved and lost lifetimes ago.

Andrew Morahan directs, essentially re-running the plot of the original Highlander: another ancient rival, more duels across the centuries, another round of "there can be only one." This third chapter is plainly a step down from the first film, yet it serves up exactly what fans put it on for, swordfights, lopped heads and those signature Quickening lightning storms.
