Synopsis
Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) is the sci-fi action sequel you can watch online on iFILM. By 2024 the ozone layer is gone and Earth survives under a vast electromagnetic shield. The man who built it is Connor MacLeod, the last immortal, now living out his final years as a frail old man.
That's the price he paid for winning the Prize in the first film: mortality and rapid aging. Then the past catches up. The immortals, it turns out, were exiles from the distant planet Zeist, and the brutal General Katana (Michael Ironside) sends killers to finish Connor for good. His old mentor Ramirez (Sean Connery) returns to help, alongside environmental activist Louise, played by Virginia Madsen. Christopher Lambert anchors it all.
Director Russell Mulcahy reworked his own 1986 hit, dragging the Highlanders out of the Scottish hills and into a dystopian city. The result split everyone down the middle and remains a textbook case of a sequel that rewrites its predecessor's rules.
