Brittany, 1770. Painter Marianne (Noémie Merlant) arrives at a clifftop estate to secretly capture the likeness of Héloïse (Adèle Haenel), a young noblewoman about to be shipped off to an arranged marriage in Milan. Héloïse refuses to sit. Marianne watches her on long coastal walks instead — memorising the angle of her jaw, the way she stares at the sea. Two weeks. No men in the frame. Something irreversible grows between them.
