Synopsis
Where Hands Touch (2018) is a wartime romantic drama from director Amma Asante that you can watch online on iFILM. Germany, 1944: Leyna is fifteen, the daughter of a white German mother and a Black African father, and in a country built to erase people like her, invisibility is survival.
Then she meets Lutz. He's the son of a high-ranking Nazi and a member of the Hitler Youth, yet to him Leyna is simply Leyna. What grows between them puts both at terrible risk, where a single accusation could end everything. Amandla Stenberg and George MacKay carry the pair through tenderness and dread, while Abby Cornish plays a mother bending every rule to shield her child.
Asante, who made Belle and A United Kingdom, returns to questions of race and belonging, this time inside the Third Reich and centered on the rarely told story of Black Germans under the regime. The film is bleak and uneven, but it lands its blows where it intends to. Stream Where Hands Touch (2018) online on iFILM.
