Synopsis

King of New York (1990) is Abel Ferrara's crime thriller, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Drug lord Frank White walks out of prison with one plan: seize control of every deal moving through the city.

Frank, played by Christopher Walken, fancies himself a Robin Hood, vowing to funnel his profits into a hospital for the poorest neighborhoods while he methodically guns down the Colombian, Italian and Chinese crews standing in his way. He rules from a suite in the Plaza Hotel. Hunting him is a squad of strung-out cops, including a young David Caruso as a detective ready to break the rules. The city becomes a battlefield where saint and killer blur with every shot fired.

Watch for Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, Steve Buscemi and Giancarlo Esposito in early supporting turns, a whole bench of future stars. Ferrara shoots New York cold, neon-lit and dangerous, and Walken carries the whole thing on raw, twitchy charisma. It's brutal and refuses to moralize, built for fans of hard-edged noir.
