Synopsis
True Romance (1993) is Tony Scott's neon-soaked crime thriller — watch it online on iFILM. The screenplay is Quentin Tarantino's, written before Pulp Fiction, and it crackles with the same DNA: rapid-fire dialogue, sudden violence, and characters too vivid to be real. Morgan Creek Entertainment produced the film on a lean $12.5 million budget.
Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) meets Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) at a kung-fu triple feature, marries her the next day, then goes to settle things with her pimp Drexl (Gary Oldman, barely recognisable). He walks out with a suitcase full of cocaine instead of Alabama's clothes. Now the mob wants it back, the cops are closing in, and Clarence and Alabama are heading to Hollywood to sell the stuff. Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gandolfini and Val Kilmer each get one or two scenes — and every single one lands.
