Synopsis
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) is a mockumentary horror comedy you can watch online on iFILM. A camera crew follows a charming young man who dreams of becoming the next great slasher villain, right alongside Freddy, Jason, and Michael.
Leslie Vernon is friendly, chatty, and completely sincere about it. He's plotting a massacre in the sleepy town of Glen Echo, and he walks reporter Taylor Gentry through exactly how the genre works. Why the victim always trips while running, why there has to be a "final girl," how the killer keeps turning up ahead of everyone — Leslie breaks down each trope like a tutorial. Then the camera shifts from interview to actual slasher, and the jokes start to cut.
Director Scott Glosserman pulled in genre veterans Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, and Zelda Rubinstein to back it up. It's a real find for horror fans: a clever riff on the clichés that clearly loves the thing it's poking at. Stream Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) online on iFILM.
