Los Angeles, 1985. Maxine Minx has survived things no one knows about, and now she's finally getting her break — a lead role in a horror sequel filming on the backlots she's been circling for years. Then a serial killer dubbed the Hollywood Ripper starts working his way through her world. Detectives played by Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Cannavale keep asking questions about a past Maxine has buried. Kevin Bacon turns up as a sleazy private eye with a client who clearly knows things. Elizabeth Debicki plays the film's director; Giancarlo Esposito is the producer with an angle on everything.
