About

Synopsis

Burke & Hare (2010) is John Landis' pitch-black comedy, and you can watch online on iFILM. Edinburgh, 1828. Two broke chancers stumble onto an unlikely income stream: the city's medical school pays cash, no questions asked, for fresh corpses to dissect.

William Burke (Simon Pegg) and William Hare (Andy Serkis) start with the already-dead. But demand outpaces supply, so they cut out the waiting and start making bodies of their own. Burke, meanwhile, has fallen for an actress (Isla Fisher) and wants to bankroll her all-female theatre troupe. The supporting bench is stacked: Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, Christopher Lee and Hugh Bonneville.

Landis, the man behind An American Werewolf in London, takes the true tale of Edinburgh's grave-robbing killers and spins it into something gleefully nasty and weirdly charming. The gore is plentiful, the humor is bone-dry, and the cast clearly had a blast. Stream Burke & Hare (2010) online on iFILM.
