The Eye

The Eye (2008) is a supernatural thriller starring Jessica Alba that you can watch online on iFILM. Sydney Wells, a violinist blind since age five, finally gets a cornea transplant — and her sight comes back.

What comes with it is the problem. Shadowy figures hover near the dying and lead them away. Faces shift in mirrors. Her doctor calls it the brain relearning how to see, her therapist Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola) calls it stress, but Sydney trusts neither. She traces the donor's history, convinced the eye carries whatever it witnessed in its last moments.

Directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, this is the American remake of the Pang brothers' Hong Kong hit, with a young Chloe Grace Moretz and Parker Posey in support. It works a clean, primal fear — that your own eyes might be lying to you — and skips the gore for slow dread. Good pick if you like your horror tense rather than bloody.
