Blindness

Blindness (2008) is a dystopian thriller directed by Fernando Meirelles — watch it online on iFILM. The film adapts José Saramago's novel of the same name; Saramago received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1998. An unnamed city. People go blind without warning, one after another, struck by a white fog rather than darkness. The government quarantines the infected in an abandoned asylum — no treatment, no timeline, no explanation. One woman, an ophthalmologist's wife, keeps her sight. She says nothing and follows her husband inside. The quarantine quickly develops its own brutal order, as a small group seizes control of the food and everyone else scrambles to survive.
