Synopsis
Possum (2018) is a British psychological horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Matthew Holness — best known for Garth Marenghi's Darkplace — adapted his own short story into 85 minutes of sustained, airless dread.
Philip, a disgraced puppeteer played by Sean Harris, returns to the childhood home he shares with his stepfather Maurice, played by Alan Armstrong. In his bag is a puppet: a human face mounted on eight spider legs. Philip carries it to the marsh. Burns it. Walks back. It is in the bag again. The house holds something from long ago, and that something is the real subject of the film — not the puppet.
Holness builds the horror entirely out of guilt and buried memory, with no jump scares, no explanations, and no resolution that offers comfort. The score by The Radiophonic Workshop sits under every scene like a low-frequency hum you can feel before you hear it. Stream Possum (2018) online on iFILM.
