Synopsis
The Returned (2013) is a Canadian-Spanish horror drama directed by Manuel Carballo — watch it online on iFILM. The zombie outbreak is already history. Those who were infected and survived now live among everyone else, kept stable by a daily antiviral injection. Kate is a nurse who works with these patients. Her husband Alex is one of them.
The drug supply is nearly gone. The government announces that all "returned" will be moved to controlled medical facilities. Kate and Alex run. Emily Hampshire and Kris Holden-Ried carry the film through a story that uses the zombie premise as a frame for something colder — the mechanics of how a society quarantines the people it fears. Shawn Doyle plays a determined official closing in on them.
