About

Synopsis

Zoom (2006) is Peter Hewitt's family superhero comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Once the most powerful hero on the roster, Jack "Zoom" Shepard lost his abilities years ago and now runs a sleepy auto shop. Then the government comes knocking again.

Played by Tim Allen, Jack is dragged out of retirement with one impossible job: turn four oddball kids into a working super-team before the clock runs out. Six-year-old Cindy can hurl a truck one-handed, Tucker inflates like a balloon, Dylan flickers in and out of sight, and Summer wrestles with telekinesis she barely controls. A starstruck lab assistant (Courteney Cox) tags along, while a scatterbrained general (Chevy Chase) frets over the whole operation. The threat is genuine, too: Jack's old partner is heading back to Earth, and nobody is ready.

Adapted from Jason Lethcoe's book, the film leans into the easygoing, mid-2000s kid-movie register where CGI powers share the screen with jokes about homework and being home for dinner. The grown-up cast, Allen, Cox, Chase and Rip Torn, carries more weight than the plot does. A fair pick for a family night with younger kids who care more about powers than logic.
