Iron Man

Iron Man (2008) is the Jon Favreau action sci-fi you can watch online on iFILM. Weapons magnate and genius engineer Tony Stark is taken prisoner in an Afghan cave, and from a pile of scrap metal he builds an armored suit to break out.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Stark like nobody had seen him before: a wisecracking cynic who comes home from captivity, shuts down his arms business and pours his fortune into a flying red-and-gold suit. Waiting for him are his sharp assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and longtime family friend Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), who has his own designs on Stark's company. An AI named Jarvis, voiced by Paul Bettany, talks him through every fix and cracks the odd joke. The closer Tony gets the armor to working, the clearer it becomes that the real threat sits on his own board.

This is the movie that started the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe — the post-credits scene with Agent Coulson said the word "Avengers" out loud for the first time.
