Directors Lana and Lilly Wachowski anchored the film around two landmark set pieces: the Burly Brawl, where Neo faces hundreds of Agent Smith copies simultaneously, and a freeway chase sequence running over 14 minutes — shot on a purpose-built 1.5-kilometer stretch of road.
