Appaloosa

Appaloosa (2008) is a Western you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Ed Harris from Robert B. Parker's novel and starring Harris alongside Viggo Mortensen as two guns-for-hire brought in to clean up a town run by a killer rancher.

Marshal Virgil Cole and his deputy Everett Hitch have ridden together long enough to finish each other's sentences — one does the talking and the shooting, the other watches his back with a rifle. That partnership starts to wobble when a young widow, Allison French, steps off the train. Renée Zellweger plays her as a woman whose presence unsettles things no gunfight could. Jeremy Irons, as rancher Randall Bragg, makes politeness sound more dangerous than any threat.

This is a slow, talkative Western, more interested in loyalty between two men and what one woman does to it than in noon showdowns. If you like the genre for its silences and its glances, this one earns its runtime. Stream Appaloosa online on iFILM.
