Synopsis
Joe Kidd (1972) is a lean American western you can watch online on iFILM, directed by John Sturges and starring Clint Eastwood alongside Robert Duvall and John Saxon. The screenplay was written by Elmore Leonard, years before his crime fiction became Hollywood gold. Runtime: 88 minutes.
Eastwood plays Joe Kidd — a former bounty hunter cooling his heels in jail on a minor charge when landowner Frank Harlan makes him a proposition: track down Louis Chama, a Mexican revolutionary who has taken up arms to reclaim territory he says was stolen from his people. The money is right. The job looks familiar. But the longer Kidd rides with Harlan's hired guns, the clearer it becomes which side of this land dispute is actually in the wrong.
Duvall plays Harlan with quiet menace and obvious relish. Sturges — the director behind The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape — keeps the pace tight without leaning on shoot-out excess. This is a western about property, power and the moment a man decides whose side he is really on. Stream Joe Kidd (1972) online on iFILM.
