¡Three Amigos!

¡Three Amigos! (1986) is a comedy Western you can watch online on iFILM. Three silent-film actors who've made a career out of playing fearless heroes on screen get dropped by their studio. Right then, a telegram arrives from a tiny Mexican village begging for help.

A bandit named El Guapo is bleeding the village dry, and a local woman, having seen their movies, sends for the famous Three Amigos. The catch: Lucky, Dusty, and Ned (Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short) read the desperate plea as a booking for a live show. They ride in dressed to the nines, sequined sombreros and all, waving to a crowd that isn't there to applaud — and only realize far too late that the bullets are real and that pretending to be a hero is nothing like being one.

The script came from Steve Martin, Lorne Michaels, and songwriter Randy Newman, with John Landis directing. Watch for early bits from Phil Hartman and Joe Mantegna.
